Good morning, I have Spanish residency and recently made a long awaited trip to the uk to visit my family. On returning to Spain my passport was stamped. Will the 90 day rule affect me if I make another trip to the uk? I'm worried about not being allowed back into Spain! I would be grateful for any advice. Thank you. Jackie.

...ny advice. Thank you. Jackie.
Your passport should have not been stamped. Did you show him your TIE or Residency Card?
The 90 day rule does not apply to you in any case.

Hi Steve
No I didn't present my residency card as I didn't know that I had to. Will it be ok to show it next time?

Yes, always show your residency card at the same time as your passport then they won't stamp it.

Thank you Steve. They won't come and arrest me after 90 days then? 😬

No, the 90 day rule does not apply to you as a Spanish resident.

They border staff don't differentiate between residents and non residents, as a UK passport holder your passport will be stamped. They are not concerned with your residency status.
When you do return (which will probably be after the 90 days) that's when your residency card will negate any prosecution for overstay.

Hi Jackie
As a Spanish resident, it doesn't matter that your passport has been stamped, just annoying for those people who travel often and will use up the spare pages in their passports more quickly.
I've recently read that those UK citizens who are resident in Spain should present our TIEs to border control on exit and entry to Spain, and only offer our passports if specifically asked for them.
Kind regards,
Kim

This is incorrect. I've been out and back into Alicante airport 4 times in the last few weeks and each time offered my Residencia and was waved through without even a passport check.
Please don't post misleading information.
