Reference Bankia takeover- is it true that there is no way to access BMN bank details on line unless new details are obtained from Bankia etc?

I live in the UK and cannot access my BMN. account since the takeover. I have tried to do it online here in the UK but it is hopeless. I have tried to send monies over today to cover utilities in my house in Spain but the payment is not going through either???. No information received from either BMN or Bankia? What a mess? Any suggestions welcome?

I will not be in Spain until the end of May this year?

We are with Bancia and when we were over in early March we couldn’t use our cash point cards, on visiting the bank we were told you must update your details in Spain every two years. Once we done that all was fine. Just needed our passports to sort it at the bank. Hope that helps explain maybe what the problem is your end

Yes it new rules with bankia that all details have to be updated every two years, bank accounts are frozen until this is done, ours was frozen for two months last year, they say they are no obliged to tell you, the update can only be done by attending the bank in person, nightmare if you don't live here, fingers crossed your utilities haven't been cut off, hope this helps.

Hi ,

I have tried since yesterday to contact Bankia who as been taken over from BMN as we can't use our logins, I have left messages on bankia number in Madrid and emails, found on the internet that you should still be able to use your cards and ATM, and that accounts would automatically  be transferredwe can't transfer funds into the account,

Yes everything gets frozen, untill details are updated, but like i said they are not obliged to inform you of this action!!!!!, when we updated ours, the bank then phoned electric companies etc for us to pay any arrears that were outstanding, in our case two months, lucky for us we were not disconected, tha would have been a whole new nightmare.
