Dear Reader,

An acqaintance, an old man of 82, living in de L ést Santa Pola is just released from hospital. He can hardly walk anymore and is brought to his apartment.

This apartment has to much stairs for him to get out of the building.

He has a car but can not reach his car.

It is a hip problemamongs others and he is also out of balance, so can easily fall.

He has no family in this country, only in England,  and has onlt  few friends.

He has a smartphone but is not very good at handling it. So even online ordering food will be difficult.

He phoned me to call an ambulance for him...

He has a SIP Card.

My question is

In what way can this guy be helped out?

What is the INNS doing for him. What care is given in this country, if any?

I am dutch. in Holland i could him out. By the way I have NO car and the corona situation makes everything more difficult.

I hope to hear some creative ideas.

Regards,

Ronald

You could refer him to the local social services department and ask for any help or if he is financially able he could employ the services of a local home help for an hour or so each day.

I was very sorry to read this story. I hope the man gets some help, he must be a bit frightened and probably lonely.

I am a long way away, if I was close by I would help.

Up here there is a British charity who would help him for relevant donations or small cost. Perhaps someone reading this will know of a similar charity in his location?

As Steve said, the Social Security department based at his local town hall should be able to offer help. If you speak a little Spanish maybe you could call them on Monday or get a Spanish speaker to do that?

I hate to think of anyone being in this position, I hope he gets some assistance.

Steve

Thanks. It is not a money thing. He is not rich but can handle. He contributed to the tax office  by running a company over 40 years. It is a matter of support. Shopping, cleaning, caring,a little bit chatting, washing laundry.

Actualy he should go to a home for the elderly. I do not think he would like, and i suppose there is a long waiting longer than hois life probably...

He could contact this carers service:

https://www.costablancacareagency.com/

They offer an hourly, daily or weekly service to suit everyone at reasonable rates.
