Morning all,

Having been stuck in the UK, we are keeping our fingers crossed that we will be able to get back to our home in Santa Pola in July,  but wanted to ask what it’s like there as we cannot find any local information at all! The tourist info sites are clearly not being updated.  Just wondered if the beaches, shops, restaurants are opening, what are locals being told?  We have no idea what to expect when and if we get back, given restrictions are being lifted in the UK?

Yes, I did click on that which took me back to the question forum and my own question!

Sorry, there are other posts but I assumed all the updates, especially RayD's, would be in this tab.
Bars and restaurants which have survived the shutdown are opening up but with restrictions re social distancing. Some restaurants are still closed or only offering a take-out service. Masks are compulsory on all public transport and in public spaces where distancing cannot be guaranteed, which is basically everywhere in an urban setting so you will either be wearing or carrying one every time you step outside. It seems this will continue until either a cure or vaccine is found, even when the State of Emergency ends.
Beaches are also opening up but with defined areas for sunbathing and walking to ensure distancing and due to this numbers will be reduced so you may only be able to have a morning or afternoon slot and any towels left to reserve areas will be removed. No ball games or inflatables. Many community pools remain closed due to the requirements for cleaning, distancing and monitoring.
July flights are still being cancelled and Spain is looking for an EU wide directive although I am confused as to how this sits with inviting German tourists to the Balearics mid June.
Unfortunately, I think the performance of the UK in tackling the virus will be a deciding factor.

Hi  I asked my friend who lives and works out there the same question,  he said nearly all bars and restaurants are open as normal including all ones at the marina , and all the beach bars all the way up to tamarit beach, also all the many little bars dotted around are open too , he said none that he knows of have closed due to the crisis 💪

They are still working on getting the beaches ready and aren’t open to sunbathing yet. You can walk along the shore ,  go paddle boarding ... but no chairs or towels for sitting on.

They were supposed to open “ between the 8th-15th June “ so we will see if monday is going to be the day.

Vast majority of places open , lots of last minute renovations underway . Still fairly quiet.

Hi. Beaches are now all open for sunbathing and swimming. There are restrictions re hygiene and distancing. Bars and restaurants can all open with some restrictions on capacity and extra hygiene requirements. Shops open large and small. Face masks required inside shops. Some you require gloves, which they provide. Public transport you need mask. Overall general common sense needed. From 22 June state of emergency ends and new normal begins. This will be in place until there is a vaccine or similar available.

Hi, i just looked on the Euroweeklynews site and it looks like everything is going to be open but with social distancing.

https://www.euroweeklynews.com/2020/06/13/expats-on-spains-costa-blanca-will-see-an-improved-phase-3-with-more-openings-than-expected/

Things are looking up, I just hope they allow the flights in from July as I’m booked for the 6th!
