I’m just in the process myself as my parents and grandparents etc all Irish - I have to send my original full birth certificate and marriage certificate along with one of my parents full birth certificate and also my parents marriage certificate.

Also need to send proof of name and proof of address ie utility bill in my name and bank statement.  The hard bit is the witness as they have to be either police, doctor, solicitor, clergy or a few other things. My doctor does not take the time to do these and I tried a solicitor who will verify the pics etc but won’t fill in the section on the form. I’m going to try an accountant next as they were on the list!

We used a MLA in Northern Ireland to witness our applications, so a MP, member of the Welsh Assembly or Scottish Assembly, maybe a local Councillor will do the job. We didn't even vote for him ( LOL ) in the last Election but he was glad to help.

After reading this I think I may apply also, both parents are Irish but I was adopted so unsure weather I would be eligible.

I too would like the freedom and be able to retire in peace to Spain. Unsure though if the requirements would still be heavy, high income proof and over 3000€ for private health policy for husband and I.

I’m sure there was a section/box for if you were adopted - it’s the same principle as your parents were irish

Thank you both for your replies, it does look as if I am able to apply. I am going to call tomorrow and see if anyone can clarify and answer my questions.

I'm in Santa Pola for a few weeks if you need stuff signed. I think teachers can sign it.

I got my Eire passport a few months back. Took 5 months for the embassy to process it. Only applicable to parents and grandparents. I needed to send long version of my birth certificate. My marriage certificate, mums birth and marriage certificates. I got neighbour who’s a Doctor to sign and the embassy rang him at work to check! Good luck.
