Hi I am considering buying property in Spain.. Budget around 80 thousand. I have been looking online and like the look of Santa Pola and proximity to the Airport.I am wondering where to start. I see I need a bank account and tax number? What estate agents would you recommend in the area and also is there other areas around there that I should maybe look at? Thank you

Remax is a good agent near Glorieta Square. My sister in law is currently selling her two bedroom apartment with them for around your budget. It is near Gran Playa with fabulous views of the sea and salt flats. Worth a look perhaps?

The areas I'm looking at so far are santa pola. La marina & la mata. I want easy access to the airport..

Any more ideas?

My husband and I have bought an apartment this summer in Gran Playa, Santa Pola (SP) and we love staying here.

Our recommendations are to rent for one or two weeks in each of the area you might want to buy in. Only in that way you come to know the difference between the areas. Furthermore you see properties for sale that you would not find by searching the internet.

We stayed four different areas before we decided ourselves. (El Campello (North of Alicante), Gran Alacant, Playa Tamarit (SP) and El Pinet (la Marina)

We thought for a long time that we should buy in El Pinet (la Marina) but after staying there three weeks at Easter time we found a lovely apartment with sea views in Santa Pola instead. WHY?

We love El Campello but prices are higher. Gran Alacant is terrible in our opinion, no atmosphere and no Spanish people. Santa Pola is Spanish and La Marina is more international. Santa Pola is a city.... You can't really call La Marina that. Lovely nature in El Pinet, but quite a lot of mosquitoes.

So make your priority list and come to the area and find what you are looking for....

Life here is really good and the sea temperature is marvelous!

Best regards from a Dane,

Kirsten Bomholtz
