Hi Lorraine,

We have a similar issue as we have sold our home in the UK and want to move in July but are concerned about our 15 year old daughter finishing her studies to take her GCSE exams in May/June next year. I looked through the options in the Alicante region and the stand out secondary education facility is Kings College Alicante, absolutely fantastic but private and not cheap and will require admission application and interview!

If you want to use state schools, It will be important that if your son/daughter does not yet speak Spanish, they need to get a crash course as this will be essential from what I have been told.

For us, we are seriously considering on-line home schooling paying for on-line tutors in the core subjects to monitor our daughters education regime in the sun. In our case we are looking at only the core subjects of Maths, English and Science. In Spain, you can leave education at 16 years old if that is what you want but employment is hard to find so needs careful thought.

Hope this helps and please update us with what you find? Good Luck, Paul

Also there is a city Elche, where you may find some schools

Thanks, yes we have looked into a few schools but have decided to use Oxford Home Schooling courses to complete GSCE studies with an online tutor and exams next year. We are in Elche from tomorrow for a week to view many properties and get a feel for locations. Anyone fancy meeting up just let me know.

Regards Paul
