Hi I can only say from a personal view that Santa pola is a beautiful town, we have a house there and absolutely love it , it has everything you need but if you'd  prefer more "ex pat community " then I would say that is more gran alicant, my good friend  has a estate agents in Santa pola and would be more than happy to help you find somewhere

Concur with Dave.

Santa Pola is very much a locals working town. The UK folk you find are usually holiday home owners, retirees  or visiting family.

Gran Alacant is expat territory. :)

A lot depends on what your ‘wants’ are. Is this a retirement move? Holiday bolt hole?

There are lots of places for sale in the centre of town and a lot of those under €100,000.

We bought through Tucasa real estate who managed to find us a great apartment by the beach& just a few minutes walk from the castle. They spent a lot of time & stayed in contact with us after we went home having spent 3 weeks there last year walking miles & getting a feel for areas to find out where in Santa Pola we wanted to be.  We finally purchased early this year.

Why Santa Pola? What attracted You?

Thanks, I have a place in Villamartin. A holiday home. I am in the process of selling, I know now that I’m looking for a mix of English speaking as well as traditional Spanish. Really don’t want full on ex-pat, a combination if it exists would be fantastic.

Santa lola definitely traditional Spanish ! Where we are,  we are the only English there and we get along just fine , 2 bed house communal pool 5 mins to beach , 22 euro a month fees , we absolutely  love it there! Unfortunately  we are still tied with school holidays so only come out in term time but still pop over for few days here as there

A lot of Santa pola is made up of apartments,  I can only go on where we are which is near pola park 3 minute walk to playa lisa, along there are some nice bars and restaurants,  10 mins to the harbour which is so nice and then a bit further on you have the main town where it is always busy , I'm sure there are people who live permanently out there who can add information but I would definitely  reccomend Santa pola if you want typical Spain,  gran alicant is 5 mins away so you are near there too which is nice

P.s when I was looking around Santa pola 4 years debating whether  to take the plunge or not I bumped into a couple,  got talking and they were from loughton  not far from me , chatting away it turns out they've had a place there for 30 years I said wow you like it then ? They said it's not changed in all them years   I thought bingo this  is the place for our family !!

Dlrsantapola,

I first went to Santa Pola back in ‘89 as my ex sister in law had a family holiday home there (she had Spanish family). I can’t remember much about it!  But my parents have had a home out there for probably 20 years or so and say it’s not changed much. They have seen the modernization along the marina take place and getting spruced up here and there.

But the locals have been very accepting of them over the years & they still talk to my mum even though her Spanish is still limited lol  Some even came to my fathers funeral a few weeks back, which we were not expecting at all.

And they sure like a chat even though you barely grasp what they are saying ! Lol

Very community minded little place !
