Hello everyone!

I would like to get some information about Santa Pola regarding:

1.Where can I get a health insurance card for me,my wife ans 2 year old son and what documents do I need, also if I need to pay, where can I do so?I am here with my wife and 2 year old son and would like to get a state heath insurance,we are from EU.

2.Where can I find Hospitals and Clinics for my son(pediatrics) but also for us,but also labs for blood tests and such?Preferable ones that work with the state medical insurance.

3.What kindergarten do you recommend and what documents do I need to enroll my son at one of them?At the moment only I have a NIE and a rental contract from the house we are staying in.

4.In the winter time, what heating solution do you recommend, taking into consideration we can not install an AC unit?

Have a nice day!

Your entitlement to use of the Spanish state medical service depends upon various factors - and am assuming you are not British?

In principle it will depend upon what reciprocal health arrangements your home country has with Spain, assuming that you are entitled to health care there.

Also taken into account is likely to be your age - for example, as a British legal resident, over retirement age and in receipt of a UK state pension, you would need to apply for the relevant form, known as an S1 from the UK, This needs then to be presented at Ministry of Social Services offices - by prior apppointment - together with various documents and paperwork entitling one to use the service will be issued. There are a few more hoops to jump through after this but that’s basically the procedure.

Under retirement age, one must either be legally working with a contract and thus paying into the Spanish system, or officially self employed and paying into the Spanish system. If none of the above, then fully comprehensive private health insurance will be required as a condition of granting residency.

My advice would be to consult the embassy of your original country to establish what reciprocal arrangements there are. The information may be available online on the embassy website.

The local Centro de Salud would be able to advise you regarding hospitals etc.

I cannot make any comment re kindergarten as I have no knowledge.
