Thanks for the "as it happens" report Cfell63, this is really appreciated, and I do know each and every one of the joints you named!

Our flat is at the Masymas roundabout facing the Narcea restaurant, and should be unoccupied right now. I say should be because I read just  the other day that several unoccupied homes on the Costa del Sol have been taken over by squatters....

...

Think I will ring the doorbell before I put my key in the lock, when and if we get back there!

Please continue the local reports, much appreciated!

Hasta luego

Ray

I noticed today that restaurant is having a makeover ! New windows by the looks of it.  Bit of an argument over who was next in line for Caixa bank I think.  Very angry lady and then the cops arrived lol

Cheers for the update caroline, I can honestly say in the 4 years we've had a place there,  I have never heard of any of them places !! Just goes to show how many bars/restaurants there are in santa pola ! Hope you are enjoying your bit of freedom today

Dave

Im sure you have walked past some of them at Some point ! We just don’t always make note of names. Lunas often has a tv out the front if footballs on.

Yes, I know that bit too Dave, we walk along there sometimes. Want to visit the restaurants that have pools for the punters as well.

That Restaurant Narcea must be one of the busiest in SP. we watch some evenings from our balcony and it goes like a fair. And they are not cheap. Good luck to them I say.

But we have not had the entertainment of a street fight. That is the bank I use and There is often a Q in it, but I suppose with the virus, there will only be 1 punter allowed in at a time nowadays. How times change.

Nice chatting to you

Ray, how long have you had a place there ?.do you get out there much ?

Hi Dave,

Sorry to take a while to reply.

We ( my better half Frances plus me)had been visiting Santa Pola for several years between 2005 and 2015, first when we were having holidays in hotels up and down the coast of Spain, then we zoned in on Costa Blanca, and finally fell in love with Santa Pola, and I know this sounds so disloyal, but it was because it bore no resemblance at all to the resorts that had been changed to attract mainly British tourists.

I did Spanish at school so spoke it well, enough to be able to have a conversation,

We rented first then because prices and the exchange rate were attractive, we decided to buy a modest flat, in 2016.

We have spent a fair bit on it, a new kitchen, some new windows etc etc you know the drill, it never stops as time goes by.Up till this year we were still running a seasonal business in Edinburgh, so spent parts of the autumn, winter and spring in Spain, then ran the business during summer which financed our numerous cheap flights back & forth. So we are part of the community in SP and chat to a couple of our neighbours, and as I mentioned, sometimes I sit by the marina with a couple of Spanish older guys and we compare notes on Spain cf UK. They do admire Brits who go to the trouble of adopting their language and etiquette. We love it in Santa Pola, and really are pissed off that current events are keeping us away from it right now. Thanks for asking about our MO, Dave, now it's your serve.RegardsRay & Frances
