I have made a will in the UK where I reside however I own a property outright in Gran Alacant. I have been advised by my UK will provider that I need to make a separate will for my Spanish property as the laws in UK and Spain differ. Has anyone done this already who could give me advice and approximate costs involved Thanks in Advance Glen

Yes, my partner and I did it on the recommendation of an ex contributor to this site. We used a notario in Almoradi, his paralegal is a British lady and the service they provided was excellent. Notaria de José Carlos Pérez Juan.
The bi-lingual Spanish will, including it being registered with the appropriate authority, cost us about 80€ each, plus a trip to the office to sign it off. Good restaurant round the corner for menu del dia!

Hi Glenn,
Your UK provider is correct. In particular, the rules of succession in Spain prioritise the children over the spouse, so it's important to have a separate Spanish Will, written with the Law of Enland and Wales prevailing, to cover your Spanish assets. A lawyer ("abogado") could do this for you, but you´ll save money by cutting out the middle man and going straight to a Notary.
