Hi we are a family of 5 and want to buy a holiday home in Spain. We want to be close to the beach in a complex maybe with communal pool. We wondered if there was a good English community and so easy to make friends etc. Any advice helpful tha

I second what Dave said.  Yes, you will hear some English but it is very much a Spanish town. You’ll hear as much French here as you do English.
They are very accommodating though. You may even find translated menus , however I read those at times & still have no clue what they mean! Lol

Gran Alacant , also nearer the airport by 5 mins, may be better for you if you’d rather be with more Brits.

Properties near the centre of town in a Santa Pola won’t usually have a pool so you’ll have to be a bit further out....which may equate to 15 minute walk or more.  Doesn’t sound a lot unless it’s 28-30 degrees lol

I think you need to make a trip out for a couple of weeks and have a look at a few different areas. No point buying a place and regretting it as often sales take months to happen. Have a good look online ...I like the interface of Idealista.com, personally.

Without knowing your budget, there are are about 280 properties with 3 beds & a pool in the Santa pola area. Google map as much as you can. Narrow down your search area.

Definitely fly out and have a good look around before you do anything!

Good luck!

We have a place in El Pinet. Marvelous beaches and restaurants and a good village with everything just up the bank. However, we think that as we get older we would like to live in Santa Pola. A vibrant town with good shops, restaurants and beaches. Moreover, they are really into community activities such as sports and music.
