Hi Everyone,

I am moving to Spain this summer. Planing to live in Santa Pola or Guardamar... where is easier to find job? I was a waitress for many years, also a chef for a year. My favourite employment was at the Airport as a flight dispatcher but will be difficult with two kids working different shifts everyday. I can clean or even start from kitchen porter ;) It will be great to get some advice.

Have a great evening all x

Hello Joanna, unfortunately there is no easy answer. You will be competing for jobs against many local people desperate for work and the pay rates will be very low, without any guarantees of continuity. If you don’t speak Spanish, your options will be very limited; there are many many Spanish chefs already and they will be employed in preference. Waitressing and so forth will be seasonal and there are already hundreds of students and out of work Spanish people applying. Unless you have a very specialised skill set, you will be very lucky to find anything which will pay your living expenses.

The other thing is healthcare, you will be required to have private medical insurance, the EHIC is only for emergency tourist treatment, and after Brexit is likely to be invalid.
