Morning all hope yous are well.
I am thinking of spending a few days in Santa Pola.I am thinking of renting a place for a few months, just wanted to know is there a vibrant expat community in the area. And which bars or restaurants are good places to meet people. Many Thanks for any help.

Sorry to say that in the whole of Valencia, the maximum stay for a tourist of any nationality is 10 nights.
Seasonal lets are not for tourists, they are for people with temporary jobs, having to look after an ill relative, on a course of study, for example. Your only option is a hotel or a different part of Spain.
Different areas of the mainland and the Islands are introducing their own solutions to tackle the dire lack of fair rent accommodation available for residents. I believe Valencia's idea takes the award for the most stupid.

Exactly, plus all the retirees wanting 3 month breaks in the winter. It is not going to solve the housing problem, it is not going to stop squatters but it is going to cost Valencia a fortune in lost tax income. I wonder how long it will take them to realise?
We don't hear much about any illegal rentals being stopped and the owners fined though.
