This is my first time on the forum. My sister and I have recently purchased the property in Santa Pola this April. We have received a letter from the Town Council asking us to pay an extra £5, 000 as they value ourproperty at double what we paid. Has anybody had this experience? Has anybody come across this problem and appealed against it. Thank you Gordon

Yes, this happened to me in January, my solicitor appealed it and was successful. Best of luck!

I don't really have anymore information, I just gave the letter to my solicitor and she dealt with it.

Did you have to pay any of the tax or did you agree on a settlement.

Sorry for all the questions.

It's not the council but the tax office !!

I had the same issue, appealed and my appeal was upheld.

Most of the incompetent lawyers will tell you to pay up !!

Hi Gordon,

Just spotted your correspondence (2017) re paying the SP property tax and would be grateful if you could pass on a few wrinkles about paying it personally, if that is how you did it.

Our first home is in Edinburgh, we have a second home in Santa Pola and for a few years had employed an English firm to pay the tax on our behalf.

No probs, but their fee is now nearly as much again as the tax, so we would ask if you could advise on whether we could do it ourselves, online, or in Santa Pola?

Thanks for your time, best wishes and thanks for any help you can give.

Ray

Bit of an old thread but the original poster was talking about the complimentary tax which the tax office levies to stop people paying a certain amount in cash and under declaring the value of the property to evade transfer taxes.

You, I think, are talking of the annual non resident tax which is totally different. Yes, you can pay it yourself using form 210 and there are many helpful posts on here on how to do it. There is also a company called Spanish tax forms Ltd (a UK company) which charges 34.95 per household to complete the forms and will also pay it for you if you can't get to a bank. I think they charge a further 10 euro for doing that. There's also taxadora.com which does the same thing for the same price. If you use them for the first time, you can simply copy the details into further submissions and do it yourself

Just put non resident tax in the search box. Bee2 has posted several times on how to complete the forms and the tax office allows you to complete the form in English. Again, that has posted been posted quite few times but this is it https://sede.agenciatributaria.gob.es/Sede/en_gb/procedimientoini/GF00.shtml

Once you have entered your NIE number it gives you the form and the option on the top right to complete the form in English.
