Not much help (with the use of the word "GRAVE") & SHOUTING

(just a joke)

. I´m almost sure you will have to refer to MOT rules. I believe (during this situation) that it will be taken into consideration. Someone may explain better.

As far as I'm aware the 3 month grace period is only for HGV & PSV's as campers are a class 4 vehicle they don't fall into either category.

You can call or Email DVSA to ask them, in my experience emailing is a bit hit and miss but if you do get a reply at least you'll have something in writing from them to show to an official if needed. Calls are normally answered quickly with good advice on the most part.

I suppose you could call then ask them to email the answer to you so you have it in writing too.

HI (If I recall) Under the Road Traffic Law, en route to a pre-arranged MOT test, direct to the MOT station. (This is out of my old head). Worth checking on it.

So your actual concern is that you won't be able to get back to Spain, well that's just tough luck but ask yourself this:

Spain is the worst hit country in the EU after Italy (~800 deaths there just today 324 in Spain) so if you have the chance to get out and back to UK (4000 cases and TOTAL deaths 220) by what perverse logic do you think you'd be better off coming back to Spain?

Get yourself back to UK and be thankful that you have the means and opportunity to do so.

Wow

Thats powerful but I understand your logic, were we are located we are in open space with lots of room so can sit outside the washing facilities and cleaniness of the site are superb and everyone here adheres to the strict rules about social distance etc so we feel safe

Last week my wife was ill with a different ailment went to hospital in Elche had great care and has recovered from a operation superbly, now in the UK she would have been given painkillers and put on a waiting list so this is also part of my reasoning.

I also feel Spain is further down the line with this than the UK and will recover quicker after all we have only just closed schools and pus etc.in the UK  so number will shoot up over the next couple of weeks in my opinion.

That's correct, the law is a bit grey  on this, legally you could arrive in Dover, book an MOT in Aberdeen & drive there, but whether or not the Police or a Judge would see it that way is a different matter.

There is a period of grace in Spain with the ITV at the moment, I'm not sure how the Guardia Civil would handle a UK car with no MOT though.

The choice is yours, if it were me I'd be heading back for the MOT. A quick call should answer your question though.

Your  British vehicle is only legally allowed to be in Spain for six months, after that period it needs either return to the UK or be re- registered in Spain. So if you are a resident it may be a better option to go down the route of registering it here.

I thought it was only legal for the same 90 days that it is in actuality legal for us non-residents to be here? And how is insurance arranged? I only ask as I wish to bring a motorcycle over to use for when I am at my holiday home. My UK insurance company said the maximum is 90 days that I will be insured in Spain.
