Hi,

I am have just moved to sax with my young family and was wondering if there is any families with kids who would like to meet up as we've been finding it a little difficult trying to meet folk in the town and would like to try meet some families with young kids if possible , I work offshore and my wife is there with the 2 kids so would be good for her to meet people and find out certain things and make some friends in the area.

And help would be gratefully appreciated.

Paul

Hi Paul

It isn’t easy to get to know people when you first move to a new home, let alone a new country. I am retired and have been living just outside Sax for three years this September. I have family, grown children and grandchildren in the UK but live on my own. I would be happy to meet up with your wife with or without the children, to welcome her to the area and be a friendly face. I no longer drive but get around locally on my bright red tricycle (+ electric motor, handy for hills!). The local children find it very amusing when I drive past but I don’t mind being seen as the “eccentric English lady on a bike”, though I hasten to add that is my only eccentricity!

Do let me know if your wife would like to meet up - I look forward to hearing from you and best wishes

Hi Paul,

I have seen your post and although we don't live in Sax yet we are looking into moving there.

Would you recommend for a young family with children?

Kind regards

Jess

Hi Jess,

It’s a nice place and we currently live just out of the town it self in a country house and our son doesn’t start school until September so it’s been pretty difficult if I’m honest and there is not a great deal for young kids in the town, a few play parks , but Elda the next town down from sax has a lot more going on & your only 30 mins from Alicante , 40 mins Elche / Santa Pola so it’s not to bad for getting to places with the kids

So we our waiting to see how it goes once the school term starts as it might work out.

But in a nutshell it’s a nice Spanish town , low crime , few nice bars / cafes and nice people.

I don’t want to put you off but that’s just my opinion hopefully once the kids start making friends it will get better for them and for us.

We are also a young family I’m 32 my partner is 30 and kids are 2 & 4.

Thanks

Paul

Hi Paul

Not sure if this will help for the 2 year old, but sports centres offer lots of activities usually for all ages.

The other option may be to go to the Town Hall (ayuntamiento) as they sometimes have posters up for activities (well they do in Castalla anyway)

Wish you all the best

John

Hi.If your are looking for kids......there are loads here.....I have just left a birthday party full of them aghhhhhh .....so much so....I had to wait outside. If you are looking for Brits, sorry, most young kids tend to integrate with the locals for obvious reasons. If you want to speak more, PM me.

Hi everyone, my wife and I with our child (nearly 4) are seriously thinking of moving to Sax. We have seen a wonderful property there. We will be flying out to Alicante in mid July to view properties. A couple of concerns we have if we can share them….

1, what activities are there for our child and how are the local schools

2, we speak very basic Spanish, would this be a problem communicating with the locals?

3, my wife is a registered nurse here in England, would it be difficult for her to find work in this profession locally? (Say 15/20 drive approx)

I have other questions but let’s start with these

Any help/advice would be most appreciated

Thank you for taking time to read this and hopefully we can look forward to some sound advice etc

Bas & Rose

Hi. ( I am out 'n about at the mo.) But briefly: 1. Schools good. ( a 4yr old will fit into the Spanish system with no prob). 2. Your basic Spanish will suffice to integrate & learn more. ( You'll have to practice in order to keep up with your daughter!). 3.work. Almost impossible. Others on this forum may explain more. Feel free via a  "pm". Happy to explain & meet up when you're here in Sax. & good luck. V
