I've don't know anyone who repairs satnavs but I would imagine that it would probably cost more than a new one. Good quality new satnavs are relatively cheap nowadays.

More details needed.

I think we're talking about a sat nav built into a car not a stand alone portable device in which case replacement is likely to be anything but cheap!

Normally though, in that case, a CD is only required for updating not day to day use.

Personally I would forget about using a dedicated sat nav,  just use a smart phone and google maps. Get a in-car mobile phone holder.  Google maps is kept up-to-date with road changes, traffic conditions has good visual and verbal directions.

Aitch.

Start by buying a DVD cleaner disc and see if that helps. Only costs a few euros. It may save you a lot of money.

Firstly try a dvd or cd in the drive to establish if it reads it. If it does, your laser is working fine, if it doesn't, then chances are your disk is damaged. Most sat nav discs for Japanese cars can be purchased on eBay quite cheaply.

I’ve tried several different cd”s and it won’t play them, so it is the bit in the gizmo that reads the discs….I was hoping that there might be someone on the Costa Blanca that could fix this, there seems to be loads in the UK….I’m not a tech person so I’ve got no idea of what’s involved …
