Hi, this is to all British subjects who are just visiting Spain, I apologise to bring to everyone’s attention a subject that people might not want to hear. It is about organ donation law. In 2020 what was a voluntary choice to donate organs it is going to be a compulsory law, unless any of you opt out now. So for those who want to opt out this is the telephone number you can phone and all it is done on the phone 03001232323 UK.

Here I will express my opinion why I have opted out. I do not trust the parliament. How do I know once people started to relate to their organs as COMODOTY how do I know the health care will not be undermined?!!! Also would they starve old people who might be able to take 6 months to live, will they start starving them? How do I know in 100 years they will not start selling organs to other Western countries?

What is more, who are these MPs we vote them in for 5 years to make such a voluntary system to change it into compulsory attitude. Those who value themselves as a whole human being in life, he/she should go on valuing themselves after dying so we do not give ourselves permission to kill. We can easily make life valueless. In Holland they are killing people with an injections by two doctors, when they suffer from depression. I hope I have not upset anyone with the above subject. Luna

This situation may have only recently been implemented in the UK but, I believe, that it has been in place in Spain for many years.

I think you're over-reacting.

The decisions made by Parliament are effectively made by a majority of the voting public. One may personally disagree with some of the decisions they make, but in this case I totally agree with the decision.

Making organ donation compulsory unless you opt out is an excellent idea, and will save a lot of lives. An individual still has the right to opt out, but I'd go a step further and remove that right.

My wife and I have gone that step further and donated our bodies to science - to help train the next generation of doctors to hopefully save lives that otherwise would be lost.

Once you're dead, as a friend of mine who is a nun once said, then all that's left is a decomposing skin bag of flesh.

And if ever I become terminally ill but still consciously able to make decisions, then I wouldn't hesitate to go to go to Holland and seek euthanasia.

Spain certainly treats your body with dignity, as I can verify having lost my husband a few years ago.

I cannot see the NHS being presided over by another country!

Hi Golandrina, thank you for letting m3 know that Spain has harvested organs from The Spanish public for many years. Did they give you a choice to opt out? I will be grateful If you can let me know please. Thanks Luna34

No, but I suspect that due to old age and so many health problems no organs would have been useful.   Having said that both my late husband and I would not have refused.
