Hi all, we are in the process of buying a property in sax, it's an old rural property so the process has taken quite some time. Pretty much all of the paperwork has gone through the town hall however we are still waiting on a response from the neighbours agreeing that the boundaries of the land are correct. We've asked the estate agent, solicitor how long this will take but have not really had a response, does anyone know how long this might take? Also are there any free spanish language classes in sax or neighbouring towns. Thanks in advance for any answers, jo

Hello,

It’s a case of how long is a piece of string unfortunately!

If the neighbors play ball and respond quickly and are helpful it may fly through otherwise it could drag on for weeks/ months even years....if you was prepared to wait that long?

We had a similar experience buying our second Spainish home as the house was a probate job and every member of the surviving family had to be found and located Etc and we also brought a tiny parcel of land for an extended garden which was owned by someone else and although it had been in their family ownership for generations it had never been properly updated or recorded so was again a nightmare to resolve.  Nearly  a year later we successfully completed On it all....phew....and our circumstances allowed us to do that so it wasn’t quite as stressful as it may have been...everyone is different and has different circumstances buying/selling but above all I would say it generally takes longer here in spain then say the Uk .

With Spainish lessons...normally your local town hall can help as most do cheap Spainish courses if not then in the bigger towns etc your generally find a language school....duo lingo app is helpful in small doses as well. Good luck with it all!

Hi in regards to Spanish classes. There are a couple of classes in and around Sax. Prices are around 30-45 euros or so a month.

Hopefully you get your house sorted out.

Thanks for the reply, I thought this might be the case, obviously time isn't on our side as we want to apply for residentia as soon as. The buying process has now been going on for 9 months (since paying the deposit) and even with the pandemic seems to be an awfully long time. Anyway, thanks for that, Jo.

Thank you, me too, and that's great, I just wondered about the free classes as some local town halls do provide them for free, I'm from Yorkshire ;)

It is frustrating. We bought a house and it was sold from under us, also while waiting for everything to be legalised. We had to rush back to Sax to find something else, which we did. We are from Northamptonshire, but originally from South Africa,

It is incredibly frustrating, nine months and counting, we are starting to look at other properties. What do you mean the house was sold from under you? Had you started the process of buying, as in paid the deposit etc.. that's outrageous! Jo

No we hadn't put down a deposit as the lawyer advised us against it until the property line had been sorted out. Anyway we got a better house

Hi Johan, did you find any free classes in or near to Sax? We are moving there hopefully in the next month.
