Sun review day
Hi all. It seems forum posts this week have had a central theme concerning insects popping up in many guises. Ants, cockroaches, mosquitoes, fleas & even flea-markets etc.
It´s the time of the season, the Spanish flies & wasps. But, it´s Mosquitoes which kill more than any other animal: over 700,000 each year, 79 million years old; fossils identical to modern mosquitoes. 80% of the world's food crops are pollinated by insects whilst 10% of with world's food supply is consumed by insects. This week mentioned have been the problem “ant-bully”. Myrmecophobia is the fear of ants, with many suggestions on the forum. The best one was splashing down liquid detergent (so as thy can´t swim across the river Styx)
I remember film exotic sets for example a James Bond film, enjoying the Mediterranean coast, admiring an actress, enjoying a cocktail or two (shaken not stirred), & never saw movies, swatting flies & clouds of mossies! Perhaps the actors with music running in the sound-track had a secret method that we have not been known, may be applied Marmite or cheap cologne, Ethanol is the alcohol that is used for perfumery& creams. Isopropyl myristate and Monopropyleneglycol. Which some scientists, attribute more damage to the skin possibly more than sun-damage. These can of course, be bought easily enough, however for home-made perfumery it is common to use vodka & probably more safe than modern inventions. Talking of which, inventions. Who on this planet, decided to get rid of the drink tin tab-pull? (knowing that many people cut their finger) but in every country across the globe, now a tab, which enters into the drink-can carefully stored in all sorts of unhygienic thoughts? to immerse into the drink! Just a thought.
I´ll call it a day, but did learn some things, RayD (always comes up with a gem!) A “flea-market is a cockroach (I always thought in Spain it was a Rastro). Lecky needs a mention, Most people are shocked when they find out how bad an electrician could be, Bles her! & I learned this; the little hole in some sinks that lets the water drain out instead of flowing is called a 'porcelator' & arachibutyrophobia is fear of peanut butter sticking to the roof of your mouth, may be an alternative against mosquitoes for Marmite.Have a good week-end.
