Have to smile when reading these posts! Thank you Villas (or is that Villa's?!) for taking the time to make the original post.

I did wonder why the Spanish spoke so loudly, or as my Dad would have said "Loud enough to speak over three fields.... Sheffield, Huddersfield and Macclesfield!" there is some sense in what you say but it does take me back to my childhood and makes me think of 'Allo 'Allo (Now there is a new apostrophe challenge for you Vill'ass!) - "Listen wery carefully, I vill say zis only wance!" (does that make me racist?)

Anyway, the point is, nice to see some harmless humour injected on to the forum. Happy Days! (Mr Cunningham anyone?!)

Laughing all the way to the Leeds :o)

I am so glad! that we are learning Spanish and not the other way around.

Our Spanish teacher often mentions the problems he has explaining certain words that the Spanish just can´t wrap their heads round.

V´s pronounced as B´s can also catch us out as we live on the Murcian border. but can you imagine being Spanish and moving to Newcastle.

I try and translate all the messages I get before I press the translate button.

Regarding "V" & "B". I was instructed that there is a distinct difference between & a "hard" B. Try saying "V" but purse your lips first.  There's your soft "b"..(purse not where your money goes!) & no lips get hurt in practising this manouvre. The things we do in August!     Villas (as in....v!)

Thanks Villas, that's exactly how my Spanish teacher explained it to me too 👍

By the way, I found Relyat's "Benidorm Triangle" - did Donkey Otie ever make it home? 🐎 😄

Villas, congratulations on the keen observations in your August Review. 👍

I could swear I passed by that British Lady on my recent day out looking for kfc in the Benny Dorm Tryangle.

On reflection, maybe I couldn't Swear it was her but i'm sure she   f***in could.!!!!

Aplogies for the late reply as I have Only just arrived back in from a coach trip to Carter Gennar 🤭.

The bus took ages it seemed to go in all 👉👍👎👈. Directons.

Brilliant follow up posts on other members observations of pronunciation'''s'..

Oh great! I thought I was escaping the great North and South divide but it now looks like I'm walking straight into another one!!
