Hi we are hoping to move over to Spain after Brexit. We heard that if you start a business, healthcare would starrt at 50euros per month then increase until year 3 when it would go up to 250euros pm. Can anyone confirm this? Also if we dont start a business how much is healthcare per couple? Grateful for any advice
According to info I have found, it is €50 for first 12 months, €137 for months 13-18, €192 for months 18-24, then €275 thereafter. www.expatica.com/es/finance/taxes/freelance-taxes-471615/
If you don´t start a business, you will have to pay up front for private medical insurance for the first 12 months after which you can pay €60 per month for the Convenio Especial.
Either way, in order to become resident, you have to be able to prove that you have enough resources not to become a burden to Spain. At the moment, as an EU member, the proof of income and/or savings is much lower than it is for non EU immigrants but no appointments are available until there is some clarity re Brexit and that is looking less and less likely with every passing day.

If your plans are to set up a business, better talk to a "asesor de empresas" who will also advise on tax matters. If you give the imperession to let hoim handle all your issues later, he will most likely not charge for the informtion. Monthly fee for handling all your tax and social security matters should be around 80,- and you are on the safe side.
In 2018, changes were made to encourage more people to register as autónomos. The monthly contributions for new freelancers was cut to just €50. It then rises to €137 for months 13–18 (50% reduction), €192 for months 18–24 (30% reduction) and after 24 months it reverts to the standard rate. For women under 35 and men under 30, the reductions continue for three years.

Thanks. That is alot to take into consideration on top of living costs. Is the 60euros per person or per couple for those who do not have their own business?

Hi it is rising over a period of 18 months and is 285/300 plus tax every quarter this covers all members of the family for health care, BUT I took a client for an NIE last week and you have to have a minimum of 7000 in your Spanish bank, so be aware of that. It is easy to set up a business don't be put off by peoples negativity and do not pay anyone more than 50 euro for bookkeeping, 80 is way too high, it is really simple especially if you are going single autonomía
Thankyou for yr advice. Its really helpful. We are aware of needing funds in the bank. That shouldnt be a problem. Its the monthly costs we need to work out.

Roughly 50e 50e + 20/25% tax every 3 months rising to 450 +20/25% in 2 years
Thank you FionaS that is certainly manageable. It's good to know what you need to allow for when working out how much you need to have a comfortable life.
