Hi I am joining the forum because I will hopefully be buying a home in Spain. Sax appeals to me, but I need to find out more about it, eg climate, night life, shopping, and the best beaches (are they really only 30mins away)

Hi Mike Thank you for taking the time to reply to my questions, between you and the other lovely couple who replied I have to admit I am being sold on the idea of moving to Sax, I just hope Britain votes to stay in Europe, as I am not sure if we will be allowed to move here, if idiots who vote to leave win.

Hi Mike

Thank you so much for that, you have put a smile on my face again, I have felt really depressed with this referendum, it felt as though it has taken my life's dream away from me. Thank you again

Regards Patricia

Hi, We have bought a property in Monovar, which is fairly close to Sax - there do not seem to be any ex-pats there - unlike Sax - which has more of a buzz.  Good to know about the Monday market in Sax.  Anyone have any info on any night life in Monovar and if any ex pats are there?

Try Bricomania at Crevillente for kitchens, it's like B and Q. Leroy merlin is another B and Q type place. there is one at Elche but travel down to Torrevieja and the Leroy merlin staff there mostly speak English. There is a large IKEA at Murcia, about an hours drive. the staff speak English. Beds can be bought at Carrefour in Petrer about ten minutes from Sax. If you don't mind second hand stuff the rastro behind Bassa el Moro shopping centre in Petrer is good. We got brand new wardrobes, matching tall boy, bedside cabinets, headboard and mirror for 475 euros, delivered and put up for free. they have a larger store in Alicante too. there is always stuff on sale on the Costa Blanca forum. There are loads of independent shops around as well in Elda, Villena, Alicante, etc. a bit of Spanish will ease things for you as they appreciate the effort in the shops.

Hi Mike, we've just returned from Monovar after a couple of weeks break, we can't wait to move out there permanently next year, like you we're still devastated about the referendum 3 months on.

I love the region and when we're over there we use the beach at Santa Pola.

Cheers, Paul
