Our daughter and her partner are arriving in Barcelona from Australia in early September, they plan to travel down to visit us in La Torre de la Horadada, then travel around Spain,  including Madrid, Toledo?, Granada, Seville and maybe visiting Gibraltar.  They are asking which sim card they should purchase on their arrival in Spain, anyone have advice, good or bad ?  We are pretty hopeless with technology so we need advice from you all !  x

Hi, I am not very tech savvy, but avoid Teletec, english speaking but difficult to deal with and they require a contract.

I am looking at Lobster, pay monthly and some of their basic plans i think include Australia, if you want to keep in touch. It seems much like my prepaid Swiss Sim which i absolutely love. https://www.lobster.esGood luck and I hope your daughter and partner enjoy Spain!

Word of advice for Barcelona area... don't let your hand off your purse for a second, and when on the highway never, ever pull over when someone tells you there is a problem with your vehicle. Barcelona is famous among the Spanish for this kind of trickery and theft.

Thanks for the advice, I have passed it on to my daughter.

Please take the above advice re frequent thefts by pickpockets in Barcelona very seriously.

I know so many people who have had  valuable or irreplaceable items stolen.

This is going on for years and seemingly uncontrolled.

Apparently the thieves are watching people arrive in Barcelona by all modes of transport.   They know who to target?

So even buying a sim card in a shop should be done with caution in Barcelona.      Who is watching and listening?

I would never wish to alarm anyone but honestly Barcelona is Full of street thieves.
