Please when commenting, remember that there are ALWAYS  two sides to everything.  It is just possible that the elderly lady could be seriously ill and, for whatever reason, is unable to call for help herself. Just maybe, she is calling for help and that she is hoping a neighbour will call the appropriate authorities.Maybe that her partner is also seriously ill or they have no other way of contact. Very unlikely ,but it could be possible.  Kim's comments were exactly correct and a friendly chat with person involved  could solve the problem..

The original message re "overweight" etc are irrelevant. But it just could be that help is required. Please remember always, that there are always  2 sides to everything, whether you like it or not !

I feel sorry for the lady as I had a really bad cough for 8 months, tried all the cough medicines, went for a breathing test then it just went. Not had COVID, nor do I want it, I'm 74 and never think of anything happening it's because of my age. Best advice I can give you is go to the chemist and buy some ear plugs

It is everyone's business when Covid is on the rise again in the U.K and the E.U. If you have symptoms like a persistent dry cough etc, then surely you should check it out. After all look at the many lives lost because of this dreaded disease.

Of course it makes sense to get it checked out, but how do you know she hasn't already?  There are many reasons for having a cough and unless you make polite enquiries, you're unlikely to find out.  If you should seek an opportunity to ask, please don't mention her weight - it's judgemental and unkind, and it wouldn't make her more contagious to you or others if she does have Covid.  Also, if it transpires that she has lung cancer or something equally awful, you're going to feel like a complete heel.

Kind regards,

Kim

Agree entirely Kim. However, from the poor woman’s point of view, being the bolshie little soul that I am, if I were in my own property, and not interfering with anybody else, I am afraid my answer to those choosing to interrogate me would be to say, in that immortal phrase, ‘on yer bike’.

I had Covid here three weeks ago. I fully isolated for 12 days. I am definitely negative now. But my cough lingers.

Hope you are feeling better now.

I feel sorry for you and suggest that you move into a different bedroom and use some earplugs. That’s like Chinese torture. My husband has started snoring all night long and it’s hell to me. It wakens me up and I can’t get back to sleep again. Thankfully, he’s attending an ENT consultant and has been advised to use a nasal bath regularly..the result is impressive. Last night, not a sound!

Back to your problem. It’s very likely that the female could have covid as I know of people who caught it travelling to Spain and travelling home too. Another couple caught it when travelling by ferry and they endured serious coughing fits

Covid is rife again and many people either don’t realise they have it or choose to pretend they don’t have it. The guide lines are that we stay at home for 5 days. Don’t even need to test ourselves in order to leave home. The neighbours arrived at the weekend so hopefully she’ll be getting better by now. Failing that, buy a bottle of good cough mixture and call with them to enquire how they are. Wear your mask   They May both be poorly and have little or no food in

Be a Good Samaritan , it could be you next. I sincerely hope not but please see if your neighbours need some help or advice.

P.S. just had a message from someone who  flew home recently. Both have Covid and convinced it was aircraft or airport.

As we’ve all heard on the news, cabin crew on various airlines have covid.  I’ll be double masking when I fly out in the next few weeks. It’s criminal. Everyone should be made to wear their mask when flying. A couple of hundred people all shoved together in an enclosed container. Madness.

Kimmy11, absolutely agree 100% with what you said. The original poster should be ashamed of themselves, the way they put their comments across. As other posters have said, they are elderly and may need help, it would be “neighbourly” to see if you can help them in any way.
