Could anyone tell me what causes the occasional stinky smell in Torre de la Horradada ? Is it muck spreading by the farmers? Hope it’s not all year round.

Be thankful it's only every couple of months, my house is next door to the local basura and twice weekly the pong is dreadful (burning rubbish). Estate agent didn't tell me that at the time did he? NO!!!
Regards
Pauline

It's the same here in Villamartin, some days it smells like an open sewer, really stomach churning definitely not muck spreading, it's worse than that.
I think it must be the drains/sewers, thank goodness for masks.🙂

Long suffering residents of urbanisations near the Torrevieja sewage works for years have had to put up with the overpowering PONG of sewage, This is a very old problem that affects more than 30,000 people (2/6/2017). The Torrevieja sewage works is situated behind Torrevieja hospital and on the salt lake side of the N-332. Perhaps with the strong north winds recently the PONG travelled further, but here in the Torrevieja area of San Roque most days recently and nearly every night the PONG is sickening.

I was searching for this topic on FB because we had 2-3 days experience with the unpleasant smell every morning since moving here. I didn't get so much info, but in a Spanish group, somebody commented that it is from the slaughter of animals in the campo between Torre and Pilar.

I saw a man with a flock of sheep and goats on the land adjacent to Lo Monte Camping and the N332. He came from the San Pedro end. When he went so did the smell. How often is he around?

Sorry, I did not clarify. It is the slaughter of pigs, the commenter wrote. I have also seen and been near the man one time while we were walking from Torre to Pilar, but the smell was not as overpowering as the sewage smell some mornings in Torre.

Well, apart from the occasional nasty pong I think Torre is a lovely place.
