For Residencia you must if State Pension age have obtained your S1 from the DWP or if under State Pension age a full years Private Health Insurance paid in advance, We used Gran Alacant Insurances when getting our Residencia, best prices we could find, Alfonso is very friendly and helpful, he will take you through all the options of what you need for Residencia, The cheapest is not necessarily the best as not all Policies provide cover that is accepted when you are applying for Residencia so get proper advice. If you have your S1 you register with the INSS here in Spain and can then register with a Medical Clinic, if you have to get PHI then you will receive a Directory detailing Private Clinics and Private Hospitals that you can access.

Since I am not of State Pension age I do not know, Google the DWP website and contact them for advice.

You need to ring DWP and they will, if you're eligible, post the S1 to your address in Spain.

You then take it to an INSS office to get registered in the public health system.

You then go to a medical centre of your choice and register with them.

Post to spain is very slow. Will they e-mail S1 form ?

Do I need to register with NISS before going to Policia Nacional to get residencia ?

I contacted NHS in Newcastle and they will e-mail me S1 within 24 hours.

Yes, there is a recorded message, explaining the website to visit if you already have an S1.  However, as you don't already have an S1, you simply continue to listen and then choose the option that is relevant to your circumstances.

I don't know how the "NHS" is helping you with this, as S1s are issued by the DWP (Department of Work and Pensions) in Newcastle, but as you appear to have found contact details that you thought were more helpful, don't you think it would be nice to offer that information to other members?

I did listen to recorded message for about five minutes, no information useful to me, got tired & hang up.

I googled S1 form, got this website.   www.nhsbsa.nhs.uk/yourinformation

I sent them e-mail, got reply immediately which surprised me. After providing my details said will e-mail me S1 form within 12 - 24 hours.
