Hello all, I read this forum with great interest each week and hope you guys can give me some advice. We are selling our property in UK and moving to Spain permanently early 2020. We intend to rent for a while (6 months) to be sure on area. The question I have is: is it cost effective to bring our furniture (and white goods) over, with transportation and then storage costs (either UK or Spain) when often properties are sold furnished. Not sure if we should sell/give away everything in UK or bring all over to Spain?

Many thanks in advance for any advice.

We used Howells, http://www.howells-removals.com/ and they include some storage within their price. We left all our white goods in the UK and regretted it as they seem so much more expensive in Spain when all we had to do was change the plugs over but at least we now have workable guarantees with our new ones.
In our case, furnished meant the large family of our Spanish vendor seemed to have taken anything decent and replaced it with rubbish before the house went on the market and literally left everything they didn't want. All we have kept is a couple of occasional tables,a hat stand and a standard lamp and all the ancient white goods were dumped straight away.
It's going to be more difficult for you without knowing where or what you will be buying but removals are charged by the cubic metre so you will be able to work out how much extra it is going to cost you.

Thank you, that is really helpful. Don't suppose you know of any storage facilities on the region do you?  Tracy

Howells are based in Formentera del Segura which caused no problems for us just the other side of the ridge from Frailes but the village has its own community site which may help you more.

Just be aware if you only have a part load coming to Spain you may have to wait until whatever company you use has a full load.

This happened to us we only had part load and the company did not tell us this would delay things, 6 weeks after moving to Spain we were still waiting for our furniture.

Britannia were the company, steer well clear of them.
