Any one knows why Policia Nacional do not give appointments to obtain residencia ?

I have been trying to get appointment (by online application) for over a month, but no appointments are available.

Brexit. I understand that as long as you can prove you were living here pre-Brexit and actively seeking a Residency (screen shots) then you will be considered for Residency post Brexit. All of us who have got Residencia are going to have to trade them in for TIEs anyway post Brexit.

Because they are snowed under with applications, principally from Brits who have been here under the radar sometimes for for as long as a couple of decades.

Many have to pretend that they've only recently arrived as they haven't done any tax returns so to now own up to or claim xx years would get them in big trouble with the tax man, they might still.

Thank you for this. Does it make a difference if you own a property here ?

What is TIES ?

I think it is TIE, it is the Residency for non EU immigrants.

Owning a house here makes no difference, it is the length of time you live here that determines your status.

Once the U.K. leaves the E.U. then you will be treated the same as anyone else coming to Spain from a Non E.U. Country and will require a different form of Residency known as a TIE. Read Jim Taylor's Guide on the subject.

The online system isn't working properly, irrespective of what nationality you declare.

Just go along to a police station and ask them - that's what others have done successfully.

Thank you for this tip. I went to policia nacional in late August, they said I have to make appointment online. Will try again.

Is there any charge ?

'Is there any charge ?'

Is that a typo? There's no charge for an appointment.

There's also no change to the online system, so the best thing to do is to ask at different police stations, as well as keep plugging away at the online system. I've just tested that, and could have got an appointment at Elda or Benidorm. I don't doubt that if I tried again in a few minutes, those appointments will have been snatched up.

I mean is there a fee for issuing residencia, like there is for padron ?

I don't want to travel too far, trying to get appointment in Cartagena.
