Hello - We will be spending both Christmas and New Year's Eve at our apartment in Torrevieja for the first time.  Wondering if anyone can give advice on any public celebrations that might be on worth attending - particularly on New Year's Eve.

Thanks in advance!

Christmas Day morning on the beach in La Zenia always looks good although I have not been yet.

Hello

In my experience there aren't any public celebrations, people/families are sometimes out at 12am to eat their tins of  12 grapes at the striking of the clock at midnight  on NYE( impossible for me haha).

In normal times , pre Christmas  there is an expats  open air carol service near the Xmas tree in the church  square ( usually early - mid Dec)  with musicians / choirs etc, very enjoyable  but I doubt that will go ahead again this year.

On the evening of  5th Jan there is a parade through the streets of Torrevieja , prior to Spanish Xmas -- 3 Kings Day on the 6th Jan. Mainly for children as Papa Noel & the 3  Kings are driven round & give sweets to the kids but it's still nice to go as an adult,  if it's the 1st time.

Cheers

The countdown at midnight has traditionally been done in Plaza Constitution i.e. Town Hall Sq but not sure if it will happen this year. The 6th Dec celebrations are going ahead so maybe the bells will also.  A lot of people seem to book a table in whatever restaurant for New Years Eve dinner and music

Have you heard if this is happening this year?
