Hi. We are an Irish couple (early fifties)thinking of buying a small property near Torrevieja. It seems to be the only place near coast/big town within our budget.  Just wondering given some not such good press on the city itself what are peoples honest opinions of living here? . Also what is the La Toreta and San Luis area like ? Or are they near the sewage treatment Many thanks in advance for any advice.

Thank you!  Does La Siesta have good transportation to get places close by or would you need a car? I’ve been on Thinkspain website, I’m not sure what others there are.  They seem to advertise only, they direct you to the agents.  I think I’d rather a small bungalow rather than apartment.

Hi,

We've lived in La Siesta for over 19 years and enjoy it here.

The transport links are good with a year round regular bus service. There's also a Centro Salud (Health centre), bars, restaurants,  farmacia, vets and lots of groups/activities to join in.

They are currently turning a huge chunk of wasteland into a great recreational area for all ages to enjoy.

Hope this helps :-)

The  further  inland  you go  you  get  more  property. If  you choose  a small  village   allow for  a Car in your costs as Public transport  a bit of  hit  and  miss

Just be careful that the area by the lakes does attract mosquitoes. But in fairness the council are fairly good in spraying the common areas.

Great choice of bars and restaurants in the area and Habaneras Shopping Centre is close

Thank you so much.  The mozzies love me anytime I visit Spain and my fair Irish skin, I’m definitely their numerous meals of the day 🤦‍♀️🥹
Good to know.

Mosquitoes   nets are  really   necessary for  most  people  and especially  us Irish.  They  are not  too expensive.  Plus  you can get Plug in  and vapour  to deter   the  pest. Call  it  money  well spent 👌
