As a property owner in Torrvieja but still working/living in the UK (retiral age is 3yrs away) can I still register on the Padron now? - or do I need

to wait until I retire ?  Is it compulsory to be a f/t resident before I can apply?

You should only register on the padron if you are a resident here, this link says you need to present a valid residency permit when applying.

It's actually illegal to register on the padrón if you're not resident.

The law recognises that some residents do not have residencia, in which case it allows a passport to be used instead, along with supporting documents to prove residency.

Some town halls, quite rightly in my opinion, do not allow undocumented residents to use a passport, and insist on residencia.
