I am with curenergia. We have been in the UK for the last 18 months. So my recent bills are all low but do not make sense. The charge for the September has .49E for electricity used but on the bill we have been charged 7.01. Some 20+ e mails later they cannot show me how they arrived at the price charged. The whole bill was 23.16E. However, I can not see why the charge is 14 times the price of the units by time of day. There was an attempt to say that this charge was based on the price they paid for electricity which changed all the time. Am I the only one that finds it strange? Has anyone had a better answer?

Or more importantly can point out a company that has clear billing and charges a reasonable price and offers a decent service.

Thanks.

Kevin

The bills changed in June and if you are on the new tariff  you are charged at a  tri daily rate. This as they correctly informed you changes as to what they are charged for electricity.

Since this change and the IVA change,  the bills from whichever  supplier you use are almost impossible to understand.

The electricity used is charged at the three different time rates and fluctuating rates, but the meter charge is charged at two rates.

The new rate is so complicated it took my supplier almost 3 months to upgrade their software and they sent out three separate bills out at the end of last month.

I just know that my bills have increased  with this new “cheaper” rate  and that trying to understand the bills gives me a headache.

I actually have followed it all. I am on the new system and the price charged for the electricity used was .49E. However, they levied another charge for 6.52E supposedly for variation in prices every hour. So my actual charge was 14 times the bills details by day, time slot and so on. So what happens when I use 50E of electricity is the mystery charge then going to be a further 650E? Has no body seen this or what is this extra charge amounting to when you use 50E of electricity. It could well make my bill with standing charges and VAT nearly 800E.

Thanks for some help.

Well I went to the Ibredrola shop at La Zenia roundabout. After some time and a lot of pushing on my part the supervisor in there was able to explain that the additional amount on my bill was effectively a charge depending on the the rate they paid each hour for electricity. The cheapest rate by the time you added this 3rd factor made it more expensive than their tariff which I would get 15% off and fixed for a year. So although on Curenergia you think you have a good rate and must use 00.00 hrs to 08.00 hrs by the time you added the variable rate it was more expensive than the mid rate! phew. So have switched and will let you know how we get on and it doesn't matter what time of the day or day of the week we will be paying less per unit than I was charged this month per kwh for the 'CHEAPEST rate'.

It seems to say Plan Especial where all units are .172484 and I will get a 15% discount = .146614 per kwh.

On my September bill besides the amounts you could see there was an additional charge for each kwh as follows

P1 .150393

P2 .148321

P3 .145717

No contest really.

Good luck.

Hi Kev,

Was wondering if you are any happier with your switched electricity plan to Plan Especial. We are currently on the variable and even being careful at different times of the day ie, using the washing machine on the cheapest plan,  the bill is high and doesn’t make any sense as the figures just don’t add up.  We have gas  for hot water and central heating.

Many thanks.

Yes we are a lot happier. We are charged the same rate every hour of the day and week so it makes no odds when we use items we pay the same rate which was lower than the lowest rate. Not given away but costs less and is easy to understand and will be a lot less than I am paying in the UK. Only had one bill so far.

Hi Kev,

May I ask you please what rate have they switched you to? Is it still the Plan Especial and did you manage to do this in the Iberdrola office.

Many thanks

Kind regards

Alice.

Hi Alice,

Have to be honest I'm not sure. I have my first bill since switching and they have charged me 0.136646 Euro / Kwh and then taken 15% off.

For the supply it is Punta 3.45 kwh x days x .075687   Euro                                                                                                                                  Valle  3.45 kwh x days x .009114 Euro

Then Sericios and others days x .02663 E per day

and then 10% IVA on the lot..

I went to the shop close to the new McDonald near the entrance to the motorway opposite the lidl . Here is a map and I have indicated where the Iberdrola office is.

The contract is in my car and the rain is just too heavy. I'll look later.

Good luck

Kevin
