I am looking to move to Costa Blanca soon and my priority is how to get my 2 Moggies there safely and with minimum hassle for them.

Any advice or suggestions for people who do this would be very helpful.

Muchas gracias a todas

Our experience was virtually the same as RayD’s; we used Animal Couriers.com who are also based in the South, but will collect from anywhere. They collected them from a local cattery, and made arrangements and delivered them to a local cattery here, where they stayed until we were sorted out. It was much better for them, they were safe, looked after and although, due to circumstances beyond our control, were effectively ‘away’ for longer than we had originally intended, they were perfectly alright. It meant that they weren’t stressed out by their home being turned upside down whilst they ran around and we did not have to worry about them at all.

This post that was quoted has been deleted.

Thank you so much for your reply.

As a cat owner yourself you will fully understand that this is probably the biggest part of relocating..

Did your cats settle in okay eventually?

How long ago did you make the move?

There is so much to find out about.

Best regards and thanks again

It’s a very stressful time, as I am sure you appreciate fully.

How are your pets now?

Thanks again for your help

They are both fine. The only problem is that one of them has developed the most hideous skin allergy to, we understand, the fleas here. It causes raw weeping sores and general misery.

The only way of dealing with it is that she has to be treated with Stronghold Plus - the strongest antiflea available - every 3 weeks and every four weeks has to have an antihistamine injection from the vet. This is proving a nightmare as you can imagine; and the other day I was just congratulating myself on having got it under control when we missed and mistimed an antiflea treatment and it started all over again and we are currently battling to prevent it getting worse. This condition is apparently not that uncommon in dogs, but rare in cats.

the other one is totally unaffected , but I have found that they do regularly suffer from worms far more badly here, even though of course I treat them regularly. But you can’t stop them hunting.

Try Pets on the move who go from Glasgow Airport. All depends what part of Scotland you are in.
