Hi Comares,

I didn't read that as Lee deciding to leave the dogs at home, rather that none of them would move to Spain.  As fellow dog owners, I'm sure we both understand that sentiment 🙂

However, it's also worth mentioning that dogs are well catered for here in terms of dedicated, enclosed dog parks and agility courses, free of charge, where they can be exercised off lead and socialise with other owners and their woofs.

Kind regards,

Kim

Thank you Kim,

I think we will still do the move with the boys, we will tick all the boxes,  get a home with enough outside space and take it in turns until we find the right sitter for them at home.   We will do all the outside walking on leads until we find a safe place for the boys to run and play with other doggies, however they do love their human friends.

Lee x

Hi Lee,

If you're headed for Torrevieja, there's a great dog park with agility kit in Los Balcones.  There's another good one in Guardamar del Segura, where we take our Eddie, which has a covered seating area for owners and a fresh water supply for the woofs.  Out of high season, you can also take your dogs on some allocated beaches.  When you know exactly where you'll be located, let us know and we can give you precise names and locations.

Good luck with the move.

Kind regards,

Kim

Hi Lana,

Reading all the helpful posts has really put us off bring our dogs, who are our life.  Here in the UK dog are always on leads except in parks, country side and beaches.  No requirements for muzzles. I sent my friend a message she has four dogs over 20kg each she said that the Spanish do...

...n’t enforce it unless dangerous, is that correct.  Our boys are like cuddly bears and the thought of putting a muzzle on them, just can’t do, real shame

Lee

Hi lee

Bring them they look like big teddy bears and they are not on the dangerous dog list so don’t require a muzzle . Good luck with your move.

Work is lined up, but I am now re thinking because of the dog law

There are people who offer doggy day care , check and see if any in the are you will be living , some in boarding kennels some in their own homes .

I have a staffie who is registered as a PPP,

I have friends who have Labradors and retrieves all over 20kg not registered and never questioned by police they tend to turn a blind eye its more the bull breeds they tend to be strict with

Where we live out in the campo, I frequently walk down local lanes, and have seen ‘dog walkers’ with multiple animals. They are all on leashes and muzzled and not allowed to run free. The areas would in UK be considered exactly the kind of place where no leashes would be required being mainly tracks through the forest. The only ‘free’ dogs I have seen were when walking down a deserted dry river bank when I met a hunter with his 5 dogs; they were very well controlled by him and very friendly - and it isn’t the sort of area where one would normally meet people! But I was stopped once by Proteccion Civil who were looking for a reported loose running dog.

I am all for dogs being under proper control - my earlier life involved me quite a lot in visiting clients at home - and I got sick to death of being leapt upon by drooling animals ‘ who are only being friendly and wants to say hello’. And who pays for my dry cleaning?!

Hahaha!  They're all gorgeous- even the little gizmo in the middle with the oversized ears 🤣

I've never seen black ones - two of my friends have greys.

Many thanks,

Kim
