I'm with BBVA.  No minimum monthly amount to pay in and no charges.  I've been with them since May and very happy with them.

Are you British or member of EU outside of Spain?  It is likely not applicable for American non residents here.

Hi Ray, The only benifit you get from having a 123 account in U K is you can withdraw cash from a Santander ATM in Spain at buisness rate and no charges, i once had a problem doing the same and complained to my U K branch there response was as it is another country there was nothing they could do about it but in fairness they did refund my out of pocket expenses plus £10 Which to me means that Santander Spain is run as an entirely different buisness to the U K arm

Hi Cat, Very interesting about no minimum pay in and no monthly charge, as all other banks have quarterly charges for non residents, i am sure 100's of other users of this forum, as i am, if you could confirm that BBVA do not have extra charges for non residents, if they d...

...o not, they will be inundated with requests for bank accounts

I chose BBVA because they had no minimum pay in and no charges.  I think they deal with a lot of pensioners.  I did open the account as a non-resident

We are also with Sabadel someone told me you will always pay charges to banks for non residents unless you have €600/€700 transferred into the account each month but someone on this forum suggested two accounts with different banks a standing order each month for €700 and just keep transfer...

...ring it between banks I thought good idea might look a bit deeper see if it can work.

Can anyone confirm if this works? I have a non-resident account with Sabadell which requires a deposit of €700 monthly. I'm thinking of getting another non-resident bank account and just transferring the €700 back and forth once a month.

Can anyone recommend another bank account for non-residents? What are the requirements for banks like BBVA and Bankia?

If you are Non Resident there is no requirement to make the 700€ credit to your account, however, there is a Quarterly Bank Fee of 35€ to have the Account.

If you have your Residencia you can get the Account changed, I think Sabadell call the Non Resident Account their Key Account and their Resident Account their Expansion Account, with this Account there are no fees but you need to pay in 700€ a month. Before we started getting our Pensions paid into the Account we simply lifted the money from a Sabadell ATM (  to avoids charges at other Bank's machines ) and then went into the Branch and paid the money in. We checked this with the Bank before doing so and they confirmed that is was acceptable. Also, I am not definite but a message on the Bank's Website stated that from 01/03/2019 there will be no requirement to have the monthly credit but I would suggest that you check this with the Bank.

A Sabadell branch here in Barcelona opened the Expansion account for me as a non-resident.

They just needed my passport, Spanish phone number and my address details from Canada. I'm surprised they didn't ask for any source of income or address in Spain. They said my debit and credit card (with a limit of €250) can be picked up at the branch this coming week.

I'll ask my branch about the monthly deposit requirement you mentioned, I haven't seen that mentioned on their English site so far.
