We have lived here (Torrevieja) 2 1/2 years. Nothing but bad luck and bad service from Deutsche Bank.

Any suggestions for a better bank for a retired couple who have not mastered Spanish?

I am with Banco Sabadell and would definitely not recommend them. Very poor customer service once they have you signed up and committed to them. I have read on this Forum quite a number of members recommend Wise. I have no personal experience other than money transfers from my UK bank account to my Spanish bank account. These transfers are very quick, within 10 seconds. The following link will provide you with further information:

Thanks. I use Wise. But, Deutsche locked my account saying I had not supplied Identification documents. But I showed them I had submitted the docs in March, April, May, and twice in June. The account is still locked (bank is closed now) even though I was told it would be worked out yesterday or today. My Spain taxes and Rent are due this week. Lots of anxiety.

Same experience with Sabadell when I lodged cash via an ATM. They thought I was money laundering? Presumably they have locked your online banking also? I've done a quick search on the Internet but without much sucess other than the only way to unlock an account is to contact the bank! Some suggest to call their emergency helpline.

We use CaixaBank,. Not had any problems, transfer our uk pensions in intermittently,  The website is multilingual and certainly the branch in our local small town speaks several languages. Look at the website, they offer a choice of languages somewhere in the top Rh corner!
