Hi Kiki ,I have not found it to be  that easy ,the tv and broadband provider  has agreed to be paid by card ,this can be done through Transferwise  ,the agent for electricity  has informed me I can pay a week earlier  each month to pay through  Transferwise  ,I ...

...do not envisage  a problem for community fees, that leaves the water, the last time I visited water company in San Fulgencio  ,the woman informed me that her English  was very limited  and as I am in Spain  ,I think it is her right to speak her native tongue ,my Spanish is very ,very limited  ,I think when I go  I will have to ask her to please be very patient while I use google translate  .Which brings me onto Suma ,we are leaving Spain 8 August ,returning  21 November  ,which I think is well after Suma is due to be paid ,any suggestions please

I've had no probs with transferring to Wise and their customer service dept is great!

Having spent 12years being fleeced by Sabadell charges as non residents, we joined Cajamar bank after much research. I cannot rate them higher, we,ve paid no fees since April 2019 with a "weferrent account" and urge anyone to join them. We are staying non residents so very happy to have found this bank as even residents with other banks being charged since we joined. I have recommended on many replies and I am pleased many have taken my advice.

Hi John, when we opened in 2019, there were no conditions at all, didn't have to make a deposit but as we,d just closed Sabadell we had a big deposit to put in anyway. Their agent also opened the account completely for us( daunting as our Spanish is limited and no one spoke English in our branch) but we are inland, very Spanish. We used Google translate and we managed. Now having read other posts more recently it seems you now commit to being a customer of the bank and given an ID to enable you to open the account online. Their online application does not recognise white Nie,s only resident numbers. They also ask for a deposit but don't think its much, but this stays your money not theirs. It may sound a bit daunting but the end result is so worthwhile. We, ve already saved hundreds. This bank is more like a credit union bank, started originally in rural areas for poor farmers, but you wouldn't think it as its just like any other bank commercially. We took all our direct debit references to set new d/ds up, but as we had closed Sabadell that day, I actually emailed or phoned all companies with new details to ensure they would be paid with no missed payments. As you are on the coast I feel sure you will have an English speaker. They do charge a small fee(was 5€.now 7€ if you go into the branch to make a transaction but we have never needed to do that. There's no fee for bank cards either or non resident certificate, but you must stress you are non resident on opening and another tip, on opening the basic account doesn't give you "extra services" like being able to transfer money to other accounts and entities and to mobiles, but we just went in and the agent added that for us. The bank cards took 2wks to collect so keep some money back if you are closing old bank account first. I have written many replies on this subject as I, m so pleased with them, I hope this helps you to do it. You won't regret it all the other banks are constantly adding restrictions and charges but Cajamar have not had 1cent since opening.

Ps. If I, ve been helpful please tap helpful tab.

John, forgot to add, Cajamar, s website is in english and worth a visit. Also the app which you will get has a place to choose english as your language (not automatically set up in english).

Go for N26 online banking. Spanish IBAN. Free banking. Use Transferwise or Foremost Currency Group to transfer funds from Uk for free. Very easy to use. I pay all bills etc here in Spain from my account. Debit card came within 5 days of application.
It works for me.

Only if you are resident in Spain with Spanish address can you register with N26 to get a Spanish IBAN. UK residents no longer accepted
