Most Spanish banks have high fees for non residents. There are many posters on this forum that have switched to the online banks such as ( the very popular) Wise.com

www.wise.com

You can also set up all your direct debits and do money transfers on Wise. You do not get monthly charges. You also get an EU IBAN number.

Hi

To add to what Steve said - Wise will also give you a debit card.

You could get a wise account today, online, it will cost you nothing.

Cheers

Due to us reading posts on here about bank accounts, we opened up an account this week with Wise as we are in a similar position as yourself. We too are completing on a property this coming Friday. All the best.

Caixa Bank are a nightmare.  Lost count of how many times they have changed the system and locked me out. They locked me out at start of Covid 19 and told me to call in to sort the problem. Then they stopped all correspondence with me. I couldnt do anything.  I had no idea how much was in my account or if my bills were being paid. I hate Caixa.

We changed from sabadell to weisebest move as we save 200 euros per year. DDs all set up easy to transfer money and get the best exchange rate on the day👍
