Ive had a Sabadell account nearly a year, I have paid 700 euro every month to keep it open for free, which was a mistake, I have been unable to pay anything over the internet with the card, no matter how I try to get the card working, I cannot. Therefore I now have a substantial amount sitting in my Sabadell account that I want to have back in the UK. Ive contacted Sabadell and they gave me instructions which again dont work (maybe because Im in the UK).  I guess Im stuck with waiting until Im next over to get my money out unless someone knows better? Ive just read here that I can have an account for 3 euros a month now, so at least Ican Try to get it changed to that account. Any advice welcome. Cheers.

Hello Lil how are you.

I assume the instructions given to you were to do it by internet banking.

This is a long shot and a guess. Maybe it won’t let you do it because you are in the UK and the bank system knows that by your IP address. See if you can find a free proxy VPN using a google search that allows you to switch your PC to Spain, and then see if it will let you do what you want.

Good luck.

If your paying 700 a month surely it would be cheaper to get a cheap flight over here and withdraw all of your money, you can then pay it into a Santander bank here and withdraw it for free in the UK. Just a thought :-)

Not sure if you’ve tried this but...

Log into the Sabadell app

Click on the menu icon (three lines)

Click on Cards then the picture of your debit card.

At the bottom click on User Settings

Here you can switch on internet use and international use.

Good luck

Hi Lil

If you open an account with Transferwise you can transfer the euros at transferwise,s good exchange rate and send it back to your Uk account. The cost would be very small(dont do the fast way which is dearer) and it would be in your account in 2/3days. I know some people who do that every month to get their Sabadell account free. Ii too was with Sabadell as non resident and paid their fees over 10yrs but now with Cajamar bank. Just checked on my transferwise account and cost is 4.58€ to send 1000€ at 90.72p/€ so receive £908. Opening an account using your home(Uk) details for them to verify takes no time at all and only details you need is both bank details ie. IBAN details. This is the easiest and best exchange rate of any company and doesnt involve Sabadell.          Hope this answers your problem, but I,d also recommend you either look at changing your bank, though most banks charge for non resident accounts or if you,re happy doing what you do then transfer back with transferwise more frequently.

Good luck

Regards

Pauline.
