Hi.

We've been with DVLab for a year now and contract is due

Looking for a different supplier with better tv. As we only get standard free view atm. Would love more sports channels.

Also as its fiber we were told there's no switch on/off service.

We only spend our 90/180 days in torrevieja.

Any advice on a new provider would be helpful.

Thanks in advance

chris

Get  yourself  a  loaded  tv  stick  in UK  or Punta-prima,   you  will  have  all  sports  channels  and  UK  regional  stations,

Any  new  Internet  supplier  will  probably  look  for  installation  fee which  would match  fee  for  loaded  TV  stick

I registered with Digi Mobile for Fibre Smart 300mbps for €10 a month, on recommendation from my non resident group.

I received a call whilst I was in the UK to arrange a date when I was back in Spain. The day before, they called to confirm and it was all set up in about 45 minutes No other costs like installation or anything

As I was trying to register from the UK I did have to use a free VPN as the site needed me to be in Spain to register for a contract.

With the free VPN I am able to use my Firestick.

Also if I recommend someone the price goes down to €7 a month for both parties!! Crazy. All working very well.

Have to agree to use it for 3 months otherwise you need to pay to return the equipment. Thought it was worth the risk and have been very happy with it.

There's other options to include a mobile which is still very cheap. Friends use the Digi mobile service and have found it good.

Avatel.

I had Sattvplus, later called, VegaFibra, for over 10 years. Was taken over by Avatel last year. Their service is horrendous! I had to wait from April until Aug last year. And then they couldn't improve the worthless WiFi connection.

Only had connection If I went to hang over the balcony. Was rebuffed by email. Switched to DVBLAB as of September. Since then, super good WiFi connection throughout my entire apartment. I am definitely not the only one with this experience, as I found out afterwards. See:

I'm sorry to hear that, I can only say that I haven't had any problems with Avatel.

I had a new connection last may, for my new apartment, they were on time and connected all. A few weeks later there were a few "drops", so I contacted them through whatsapp, within the hour there was a very friendly technician at the scene, who spoke very good English. He first checked the server room, where all connections of the 112 flats are connected. He cleaned the contacts of my connection. I wasn't convinced, so I asked to change the router in my flat, he did that without questions, had to pay nothing.

I always am a bit bemused when people say they have bad connection. There are so many things that have an influence on that. Could be donw to bad cables, old UTP cables, while the standard is now at least cat 6e cables. The routers are tucked away in a small "closet" at the entry of the flat and from there on it has to provide the whole property from speedy wifi, preferably at the furthest point of the property in the garden. Of course that can't be done.

That's why I created my own mesch wifi system, which allows me to have +/- 500 mbps at the furthest point (subscription is 600 mbps).

Well maybe they had start-up problems with the companies they had taken over.

Before Vegafibra was taken over, I rarely if ever, had a problem while I had a subscription with them for over 10 years. I also have 600 mbps.

Last year, I suddenly started having problems with WiFi reception and Avatel had since taken over Vegafibra. A technician came and moved the router to the hall. Didn't change anything. "It's because of the construction of the building" he said. This, even though I have been living in this apartment for almost 6 years without problems. Next, he thought it would be due to the router. So he picked up a new router. No improvement. I only had reception in the living room and poorly. He then advised me to buy a Mesh Wi-Fi system, which I did immediately. Bought Mesh Wi-Fi system from TPlink as he advised.  But even then, the problem was not solved.
When I switched to DVBLAB, 2 technicians were sent. They spoke only Spanish but that was no obstacle at all since they didn't need me for anything. They spent about 2 hours doing wiring in my apartment and in the collector box in a general area of the building somewhere downstairs. The Mesh contacts and router were put in a different place and my Wi-Fi reception has been super ever since. Never been so perfect before. It's a delight because I haven't watched TV for many years but only use my computers."

I also want to explicitly emphasize that the technicians from both companies were very friendly which I can't state about the customer service of Avatel by mail or at their office.

However, the know-how of the Dvblab technicians was more accurate in this case.

When I read your explanation, it might have something to do with the wires. You said they were busy wiring it all.

I have installed several mesch systems in Belgium and in Spain as well. Of course the configuration has to be spot on as well. Did you switch off the wifi signal from the router? Did you put your TPlink in router or in access point mode? Which TPlink did you use? Wifi 5 system or 6? It's all very complicated, except if you know what you are doing. Not saying you don't. Changing the location of the mesch boxes, maybe he wired them up in stead of let them connect through wifi? I don't know. There's so many things who can influence a wifi signal.

Glad for you it's now ok.

Hey, I use CostaTelecom and they're absolutely bulletproof.  I work building networks globally but have a second service from Ole.  I have 1Gbps fiber and have my own router in place to manage my own traffic.  Service is never down and I have a sim with unlimited calls and internet within the EU for about €30 per month. Oke is expensive and tried to charge me for enabling WiFi 6 on my router.

What's the advantage of using your own router? Been looking at it for quite some time. But for now don't see the advantages.

So you put out the provider's router and change it into your own? That means you have to configure it as well? Deco works on it then? Should be I guess.
