Hi I have a satellite dish with free sat boxes on my TVs.  Used to work great but now since it appears we have hD I can’t get any bbc channels and only limited others .

I’ve had a local company in Torrevieja here very helpful but couldn’t solve my problem. Doesn’t know what’s going on.  He said lots of people seem to have problems.  Does anyone know what we can do or who can we get in to sort the issue. we used to be able to watch all channels.  Record etc.  thanks everyone maureen

You maybe need a bigger dish or use a different postcode. All BBC channels are now regional and HD and vary a lot. Ch4 and I can't get that on Freesat box and have to use the Humax Set top box mode to get them. ITV London HD is very poor and keeps pixelating but I get it, and BBC1, with an East Midlands postcode.

Hi

BBC have stopped transmitting in SD, in favour of HD only. Apparently, HD signals are much weaker than SD, so a larger dish may help - but don't ask me what the new minimum size is! (It used to be 1.4m).

We use a Sky box and can still get a hybrid BBC1 (channel 801) plus BBC News (882), BBC4(815), all in SD. Other BBC channels are hit and miss.

Cheers

Steve

BBC East works fine ror me using a Suffolk post code randomly chosen from a search for addresses for businesses in Ipswich.

Most London ones work too I believe.

BBC are still transmitting in SD, albeit with no regional versions) as you have found by getting them in the 800s (the SD HD swap section) on your sky box. But these will close March 2024.

If you have a freesat box, no need to play with postcode, just see if you can get a region in the 950s...

We have the same problem  its on and off during day night time it's perfect

It's not your box or TV it's BBC messing it all up

Hoping it will sort it's self out. I cleared all m ofy channels and reloaded then and check airal

Some times if new building going up and big cranes can upset your signal. Check it out look around you you will be surprised

I have a Freesat box for my TV and a 1.8m dish.

Now the BBC has gone all HD I can only get BB1 Regional between channels 951 and 967.  You will not get anything on 961 BBC South as it is only transmitting via Sky on low power.

I find I have to run up and down these regional channels for the best reception as they differ a lot. Weather plays a big part on how good your reception will be.

If you go onto the net and download and print the Freesat Channel list you will find it useful.  Several versions come up, just pick the one you like best. Some are easier to read than others.

"You will not get anything on 961 BBC South as it is only transmitting via Sky on low power."

Depends where you are...BBC South HD (and the ITV1HDs and C4HDs on the same frequency) can be received north of Calpe all the way up and beyond Valencia on a well aligned 125x135cm dish.
