I wonder if someone would be good enough to tell me whether I should currently  be able to receive  channels E4 and Dave via satellite.  I have an apartment in central Torrevieja and receive UK tv via the roof top dish.  As I am not resident full time, I can't remember exactly which channels I used to get but I think that I did get E4 and Dave in the past, along with the usual selection, and would welcome some more information before I call in the engineer.  Many thanks.

Both E4 and Dave are free on satellite (Dave HD is pay however),

(you should also get Film 4 and C4, which are on the same frequency as E4, and Really, Drama, Home and Yesterday, which are also free and on the same frequency as Dave)

As long as you have the right sized dish for your area, and it is installed and aligned correctly, you should be able to receive those channels

Dave is on one of the weaker transponders and can prove problematic even with a 1.9m dish.

Remember also the footprint of the Astra cluster is neither uniform nor linear so reception at any given location cannot automatically be taken as representative of an area as a whole, a km or two can make the difference between satisfactory and sketchy reception.

We are in La Zenia with a 1.4 metre dish getting Freesat, yes to E4, no Dave.

Thank you for your reply.  I do currently receive Channel 4 and it is a good signal so it may well be that the dish has become slightly misaligned since it was last inspected in the spring.  It sounds as though I will need to call in an expert when I return next month. It is a communal dish, serving four apartments, but the owners are very seldom n residence so there is no continuity of experience or care and one never knows quite what one will find from a televisual viewpoint.
