Good morning all

My  husband qualifies for a bus pass. 69 years young and gets UK pension. I'm 63 would I qualify for a bus pass? I don't get my pension until I'm 67😡.

Neither of us are registered here as "Pensionista" does that make any difference?

Any information/advice would be appreciated.

Have a nice Sunday.

Christine

Councils grant subsidized or even free travel for qualified individuals. You will have to contact social services at your council to find out if you qualify. Special rail fares apply to all over 60, all you need is buying a "gold card" from any rail station giving proof of age.

All you need to get a bus pass in Torrevieja is to be registered on the padrón. Cost is €7. Just go to the town hall.

As I said, all you need is to be on the padrón. Age doesn't matter.

Hi Christine,

Whilst not relevant to your query about a bus pass, you can become a "Pensionista" from the age of 50 - as a "Jubilada" (early retiree at age 55), I didn't know whether to be pleased or disappointed! ;o)

The nominal membership fee of Eu 20 per year, is more than covered by the benefits, such as discounted travel, holidays, etc. and it's a great way to become involved with and support your local community.  Ask how to apply at your Ayuntamiento (Town Hall).

Kind regards,

Kim

If you are resident in Torrevieja it does not matter what age you are you are entitled to a bus pass but you must be Resident in Torrevieja and on the Padron.

Update on bus pass applications 15 January 2020

I went to ADL this morning to apply for a bus pass. You need an appointment before you can sit down and apply. There is no turno machine giving out numbers. You need to ask the guy at Mesa 01 for an appointment. Today they're giving out appointments for 3 February!

You *may* be able to make an appointment by telephone; I haven't tried.
