Have acquired a HP circa 8+ years old pc with dodgy battery. Previous owner gifted as replaced with new. Not sure whether viable to restore?

Someone out there who enjoys the challenge of restoring laptops? Maybe retiree with technical background, or savvy whiz kid. As not personally  technically minded, ideally a fixer who could assist with set-up.

Any contacts welcomed ( preferably not high st. options)

You need to provide the exact model number before anyone can advise you, but a quick glance shows batteries might be pennies to buy.

Not sure if this provides all the detail necessary for identification

Where has that info come from?

Is there a serial number on the base of the laptop? That would be much more definitive.

This laptop was announced in 2010 so is more like 15 years old than '8+' therefore the wisdom of spending time and money on rehabilitation is highly questionable.

Probably right, but it's decent spec and TPM apart, which you can get round, you could probably get it to run Win 11 quite easily.

It's certainly worth looking into, but we need to know definitively what model it is first.

None of those comes up as the serial number, which means HP no longer support it.

Try looking inside the battery case or better still, use the blue "let HP detect your product" button here;

https://support.hp.com/gb-en/products

Assuming it runs plugged in, that is?
