It's not ideal Mary.

Are Ryanair charging you for changes or are they allowing free amendments?

Wilbur, to be honest if we change it will be last minute dot.com.

At the moment they are stating no charge if rebooked before March 21.

If you really need to go you could look for options on skyscanner.net, they look at all airlines.

It looks like BA have stopped flying to Alicante altogether at the moment. We came back from Alicante last Thursday and it was with Iberia via Madrid, BA switched our flights to Iberia so it did not cost us any extra but the on-line one way price was £340ish!...

...

Aitch.

I did know BA stopping flying to Alicante,

the others may follow suit if they have no passengers probably won’t fly.

It’s all a bit problematic.

Many airlines will go under, there is no

Question about it, just when.

A lot of airlines sending leased planes back

and selling the ones they own.

We all just have to wait.

Hi David,

the situation seems to be worse now than it was in the first wave, at least in Lincolnshire where we live. I think it is because people have been lulled into a false sense of security by the low death rates initially in phase2. Hopefully the lockdown will get the infection rates down and then the increased testing will allow travel to recommence. Of course that requires Spain to show improvement as well.

We are booked in January with Easyjet but whether that happens is anyone's guess at the moment.

Let's hope a working vaccine is available soon.

On the work you want done, I don't know your circumstances in Spain but on our community our president would certainly help sorting out any work that was urgent. You've probably already thought of this but just mentioning in case.

Aitch.

Thank you for your message.

Yes it’s all up in the air.

I heard that Norwegian Air is probably going to go bust, they are on the brink anyhow.

The work in Spain can wait as I need to be there really. I have a contractor lined up.

It’s all a bit of a disaster. But as bad as people who have lost their lives and people

who have been directly affected by Covid.

We just have to be patient, but it us very frustrating.

Please be aware that it may be free to change a Ryanair flight now BUT it must be more than 7 days before the date of flight booked otherwise you will have to pay the fee.

EasyJet  doesn’t appear to have any time restrictions.

As a matter of interest, it’s my opinion that many people are refusing to believe that they may have the virus and don’t go for the test. Perhaps people are seeing it as a taboo subject and don’t want to admit to having it. Therefore, people are walking about with the virus and passing it on to all and sundry. Otherwise, how do you account for the massive daily COVID numbers?

It’s a terrible shame that Spain has introduced these new restrictions but I don’t blame them at all. They should have done it a long time ago.

I am sorry for all if you people who planned to spend Christmas here. It is do beautiful here at present.  We came for a week and extended to a further 2 weeks and decided not to go back yesterday so will finally return on 2nd December which will allow us time to quarantine for 14 days and still have time to post our Christmas cards. Weirdly, I bought all Christmas presents in early October so no worries about searching for gifts when we return.
My advice to ALL OF YOU THAT PLANNED TO COME HERE FOR CHRISTMAS is to pay for the test and come. Make the test a gift to yourself. Life is too short. If you can manage to afford the test, have it and get your flight but try to extend your stay to compensate the added expense.
Happy Christmas to you all.

Mary,

Make sure you change at least 7 days before or you will have to pay.

Good luck & Best wishes

Dear All,

I have just heard that The Spanish Government are going to implement another travel requirement in entering Spain by air or sea,

Apparently coming into force on the 23/11/20

That you the traveller will have to have

PCR Covid test to a maximum of 72 Hrs

Before travel.

Private tests in the UK vary from £95 to £130, depending on providers.

Has anyone else seen this?

David

Something which has not been thought through properly.  With the Portsmouth to Santander ferry taking 28 hours it will not be possible to get a PCR test done and results within the 72 hours time frame. Travelling from France is also on the list as requiring the test and if you arrive by air or sea then you have to have it.  However you can drive through the border without needing it.  It will be interesting to see if they actually check when one arrives and I find it hard to see how they can refuse entry to a Spanish citizen or indeed a tax paying resident.

Yes indeed

I looked this morning for a flight from Alicante to Gatwick. It was an unbelievable

£600 one way.

I have a property in Torrevieja and I am beginning to wonder when I will see it?

I need to organise some work to be done there and that is difficult to do when you are 1000 miles away

I guess we just have to wait and see what happens next.

A year ago if this was in a novel or book, we

Would also say it’s a bit far fetched, but there you fact is usually stranger than fiction.

Not sure where you were looking orwhat date but Ryanair flights are still very cheap throughout December and January. Nothing on there for €600 one way

It was easy jet, I was looking at one way

tickers, but it’s definitely there.

There are i of course flights with Ryanair,

but the times are not convenient to all.

There are less flights than there were and they are

Always reduced this time of year. I understand

British Airways have stopped flying to Alicante

now altogether.

The other thing is we cannot be certain

that the flights will go.

We all have to be safe that’s the main thing.

I see cases in Austria now have gone through the roof.

Let’s hope they get the vaccine soon

Several people here on this discussion are blaming the Spanish government for bringing in this rule.

This is an Eu rule that was agreed by all Eu member states.
