Something similar happened to my friend's daughter.  She had to have the vaccine because she works with vulnerable people, but had to travel from Andover to Epsom to get it at short notice.  It was suggested she take someone with her as, if there were any left over, they would get it too.  I guess it makes sense not to waste any.

They do the same thing in Spain.  When my Spanish teacher was telling us about the 3 mayors who were being investigated for jumping the vaccine queue, she also told us about Guardia Civil officers in the Barcelona region who were asked if they wanted it, as the health centre was going to have to throw away a number of Pfizer BioNTech vaccines, which can't be re-frozen.  A more recent issue is a change in syringe sizes which means that they now have 6 doses, instead of 5, so they'd rather use them than throw the extra dose away.

I agree with what you are saying better to use than throw away. I just think that better use could have been made with it, ie Teachers, police etc. 

Yes my son has just had his vaccine, he’s 37. When he was younger, age 3 to 15yrs, we always had him to the hospital with breathing problems. He thankfully grew out of it but the NHS never put a clean bill of health on his records, so now he even qualifies for the flu jab. Like my son he probably qualifies because of an illness he can’t even remember.

Texts are sent out by GP surgeries so I guess his surgery had a slot to fill at short notice and he was fortunate to be called.
