Hi

Just to say I was asked to wear a mask when using a taxi from Torrevieja.

The first request in recent times in Spain.

Fortunately I did have one on me. The taxi driver was wearing a mask.

Hi Andrea,

When we arrived, un-masked, at our tax advisors last month, the receptionist pointed to a pack of them and asked us to wear one for our appointment.  Although it's still a legal requirement to wear masks in clinical settings, including pharmacies, and homes for the elderly and vulnerable, apparently businesses generally can also decide whether they require their customers to wear them.  Last week, Spain's health minister, Carolina Darias, recommended that people start wearing masks in indoor settings because of the increasing rate of Covid infections, so I guess we need to get used to carrying them again.

Kind regards,

Kim

Alternatively we could get used to politely saying 'no thank you' and be prepared to walk out if they insist.

Hi Gordon,

Of course that will be an option for bars and restaurants, where there´s plenty of choice, and I suppose the same could be said of taxis; although, with the summer season approaching, I guess it will come down to how long passengers are prepared to queue until they find a driver who doesn't insist of them wearing a mask in the vehicle.  Personally, I was happy to wear a mask for an hour out of respect for my tax advisor - and because it would have been very inconvenient for me if I hadn't!  😄

Kind regards,

Kim

Hi Ian,

I don't think of wearing a mask to respect the needs of my tax advisor as "loosing my freedom" and my choice on that occasion positively impacted me and others - personally, I think that's a win-win 👍

Kind regards,

Kim

That is down to the fact that it’s now only the over 60 age group still have to report a positive test to the authorities. With the exception of the clinically vulnerable.

As there are no testing or isolation requirements for  anyone under 60, the figure is obviously not a true representation....

...

It’s the fiesta season, celebrations are back to what they were pre covid days.In fact all the fiesta’s I’ve been to over the past few weeks seemed busier than ever.

Alicante last week was crazy, squashed like sardines in a tin. Oh and about one person in five hundred wearing a mask!

I have covid for the 3rd time I am double jabbed and boosted, got in benidorm a week ago, still ill now

This is dangerous information.

Natural immunity is NOT better.

I´ve know at least 10 people with Covid - vaccinated, None hospitalised, all very degrees of unwell, but all recovered.

I know at least 3 people who refused vaccines and caught - in hospital, one very very seriously repeat visits.

So if you catch Covid and your body is left unprepared with no vaccine or untested immune response, chances are if you don´t have a jab and catch it - YOU ARE FAR MORE LIKELY TO BE SERIOUSLY AFFECTED.

Look at the US data for obvious proof -  the much higher death rates were by unvaccinated in ´Red states´  - AKA Trump supporting anti-vaxxers or states which for quite some time has right-wing politicians who were denying this was necessary - and offering such great advice, such as selling and eating mud as a natural benefit.

https://abcnews.go.com/Health/red-blue-america-glaring-divide-covid-19-death/story?id=83649085

Excerpt - ´An ABC News analysis of federal data found that on average, the death rates in states that voted for Trump were more than 38% higher than in states that voted for Biden, post widespread vaccine availability´

It does seem the Delta strain is about - I do not believe 34% of over 60´s have this - another quote from another poster. If you are going to quote stats like that which will alarm people, perhaps put in a link with further detail. It is possible of course in some areas the rates will be higher - but across the whole of Spain - I have not seen any mention of 34% of the over 60´s have this?

If natural immune response was the ´better way´- then no vaccine would exist as that´s how they all work - giving your body a litlte of the virus to provoke a response in the body, so when Covid does come for you - your body willl still catch it, but the immune response has seen the virus and for the vast majority, responds better.

As for those jumping on the right wing / anti vax media circus. Tetanus, Polio, TB and others are vaccines that most of us have had - did you complain at school? did your parents kick up a foss?  The only reason why this fuss over the Covid vaccine started, is simply politics and money - it´s not good for big business!

Morever. Anyone quoting "PROOF"  whilst all these theories are being tested durng  this ongoing & unconcluded, mutating virus is not "dangerous", purely,  possibly "pandering" to biased & sometimes provided, inconclusive info. or misinformation. ( on both-sides) .  V

I totally agree with this. I'm a vegetarian, most of the food I eat is fresh and I exercise for at least an hour everyday. I had covid back before the vaccines, but I didn't know I even had it until the second week when I developed a cough. The doctor made me take a covid test and to my surprise I had covid.  Two years on, I don't wear masks unless compulsary, I don't avoid people or busy places and I've never had covid again.

But unlike everyone else, you won't find me McDonalds or Burger King. Nor drinking or smoking.

Ah, the benefits of clean living and a healthy lifestyle. For those of us who like the odd BBQ sausage or pork chop washed down with a beer or a glass of wine then the covid vaccines have (literally) been a life saver. Hence the dramatic reduction in deaths versus infections since the inoculation program began.

Personally, I'll stick to the medical advice given by health authorities the world over and keep taking the vaccines.

Aitch.
