Hi Fee,
Firstly, all airport hire companies will to one degree or another try to strongarm you into taking their insurance. However, if you have excess fee insurance as well as their third party insurance ( which is usually as standard in any booking), then you are more than covered. Of course you will still need to leave the insurance excess deposit on your credit card and be careful to use the same credit card for the deposit as you did to book the car on line as they do not accept deposits on debit cards.
If you are planning to come over every 6 weeks or so then it is advisable that you purchase a yearly excess fee plan. Money saving Expert has some good advice. https://www.moneysavingexpert.com/travel/cheap-car-hire/#needtoknow-9
From personal experience, I have found Centauro, OK and Drivalia to be the best. Goldcar average and Wiber the worst for the sales pressure to take their insurance.
